PEDIALYMPICS – A joint project of IWC Makati and Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas for Children with Special Needs

25 February 2018, Makati City – The Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines Inc District 383 led by IWC Makati with Club President Menchu Romero and the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, of Rotary International District 3830 led by Club President JP Dela Vega for 23 years, have jointly shared a lingering project which aims to create a sports’ awareness program for special children with special needs, some of whom may be physically, and/or mentally challenged, homeless children, and orphans. This flagship program is known as Pedyalympics, parallel to a regular sport activity that seeks to develop physical fitness and mind motivation for fun competition.

The said event participated by officers and members of both organization is honored to have IIW Pres. Dr. Kapila Gupta and IWCPI National President Gloria “Baby” T. Golez amidst the fun and fellowship, giving more meaning to the cause of the event by gamely joining the activities together with the children, much to the delight of IWCPI D383 District Chair Nenette F. Qua, and RCMD D3830 project founder Past President Dr. Perry Noble.

Not minding the heat of summertime, our IIW president once again marked the occasion with a true spirit of sportsmanship, a legacy of hope to those children, who ventured to bring the best of their abilities, and gaining inner strength to battle physical or circumstantial challenges.

The gesture of playing with the children and members of both Inner Wheel and Rotary sent a quiet yet vivid message to everyone… “ we have to be with them, play and laugh with them, to be able to feel their needs, and fill the vacuum of uncertainty and give hope to these children’s dreams.”

The day ended with joy in everyone’s heart, fulfilling another set of footprints etched with joy in each of these special children.
